Natural Reserve
Our Río del Oso Reserve is located next to one of the main Natural Parks of Colombia, the Chingaza National Natural Park, a unique ecosystem in the world and the main supplier of drinking water to the capital of Colombia, Bogotá.
Protecting our natural resources
In 2020, with the sole purpose of guaranteeing the protection of this ecosystem, we decided to initiate a registration process with National Natural Parks, a total of 102 hectares of our property adjacent to Chingaza Park as a Natural Reserve of Civil Society, Once the registration process is completed, we would become the only flower company in Colombia to be the owner of a Nature Reserve. The area that is in the process of being registered as a Natural Reserve of Civil Society, is immersed in an area that presents a high diversity of ecosystems, resulting from the interaction of various biophysical processes at continental, subregional and local scales.
Ecosystem care
These ecosystems play a key role in maintaining biodiversity, capturing and conserving carbon on a daily basis, and ensuring the region’s water supply.
Ground uses
In the area, there are no agricultural activities and no type of anthropic intervention, evidencing the coherence with the permitted land uses.
Natural vegetation
The areas with natural vegetation are in a good state of conservation, this is of vital importance to maintain the associated water supply, the recharge of aquifers, the regulation of flows and the water supply.
Water supply
It is a strategic and decisive resource in the productive and survival dynamics of the local communities located in the middle and lower part of the area.
Protection of water resources
We protect the resources of our ecosystem and promote collective action to positively influence the water practices that take place in the area.
Chingaza wasteland
The Chingaza National Natural Park is a unique ecosystem in the world, there we find the great Páramo, home of the Andean bear and the main supplier of drinking water in Bogotá.
